Fowl Mood Racing Reflects Back on 2013 Season and Looks Ahead to 2014

Without a doubt, the 2013 racing season did not get off to the start that the Fowl Mood Racing team had expected. Months of preparation and planning for the new season didn’t produce the expectations that they had been looking for. Team owner Stu Archer had purchased a Canadian Modified, and the plan was to race weekly at Brighton Speedway, as well as the Late Model program with Phil Potts.

After a few rough weeks early in the season for the both Stu and Phil, the Fowl Mood Racing team quickly came to the conclusion that they needed to go back to focusing on just the Late Model. Despite their early season frustrations, Potts remained in the top five in Brighton Speedway for most of the season. The team hit they stride in the summer, claiming their first win of the season on Saturday, July 27th, and returned to victory lane just a few weeks later with their win on Saturday, August 17th.

“The season we had didn’t meet our expectations, we really wanted to contend for the Brighton Speedway championship, but it just didn’t work out for us this year”, says Phil Potts. “We will be back next year looking for that championship”.

In addition to racing weekly at Brighton Speedway, Potts also finished in fifth place overall in the Go Nuclear Late Model Series North Division, which included a top ten finish in the annual Great Crate Race at Brighton Speedway, and a strong third place at the series opener at Can Am.

This coming season, the Fowl Mood Racing team has added an extra car to their arsenal and will race weekly at Can Am Motorsports Park in Lafargeville, New York as well as their hometown Brighton Speedway. The team also plans to follow the entire Go Nuclear Late Model Series schedule which included the 2014 season opening event at Mohawk International Raceway on April 26th and 27th.

Fowl Mood Racing would not be possible without the support of our sponsors. We would like to thank Hutchinson Fuels, Indewey Excavating, Vanderlaan Building Supplies, Bill’s Johns, Gord’s Water Service and Brighton Recycling Inc. for all their support throughout the 2012 season, and we look forward to another great season in 2013.

Fowl Mood Racing Battles to 6th Place Finish in Brockville Speedway Marathon; Black Rock Speedway Coming up This Weekend for 2013 Finale

The 2013 racing season has had a lot of ups and downs for Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team. With the final race of the Go Nuclear Late Model Series Excel Tower North Division on tap at Brockville Speedway, the team was hoping for a strong finish.

Although the Fowl Mood Racing team enjoys racing at Brockville Speedway, they have not had much luck there in the past, often a victim of bad luck. They were optimistic that this race would be much better. They battled inside the top five early in the 35 lap main event, but track conditions were less than favorable, and Potts would finish in 12th place. The team will finish the year in 5th place overall in the Go Nuclear Excel Tower North Division standings.

“It certainly wasn’t what we had expected coming here today”, says Potts. “We were really hoping for a good finish. We enjoy racing here at Brockville, but just cant seem to catch a break”.

The final race of the 2013 season comes this Saturday, October 26th at Black Rock Speedway in Dundee, New York for the Go Nuclear Late Model Series season finale.

Fowl Mood Racing Looking For Home Track Advantage as 3rd Annual Great Crate Race Takes Place This Saturday Night at Brighton Speedway

The 2013 season did not go exactly the way Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team had envisioned prior to the drop of the first green flag of the season back in May. Early season frustrations eventually gave way to a couple wins after some hard work and determination from the entire Fowl Mood Racing team.

With the biggest event of the season on the horizon with the 3rd annual Great Crate Race this weekend, the entire season could be made with just one race, with $5000 to win, a total purse in excess of $20000, and the prestige of winning such a big event on the line. This race was originally scheduled for September 7th, but was postponed due to rain, as was last weekend’s Applefest Weekend classic and final points race.

“We haven’t had much luck in the first two Great Crate Race events, so hopefully we can turn that around this year”, says Fowl Mood Racing driver Phil Potts. “It sure would make our season to pull out a win the biggest event of the season”.

After the Great Crate Race, the Fowl Mood Racing team will have a few weeks off before competing at Brockville Speedway on October 20th for their Go Nuclear Late Model Series event.

The night didn’t start out all that well for the Fowl Mood Racing team, finishing with a fifth place finish in the qualifying heat race. Fowl Mood Racing Continues to Struggle at Brighton Speedway; Team Participates in Exhibition Event on Pavement at Kawartha on Sunday

After getting their firs win of the 2013 season a couple weeks ago, Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team have been working hard trying to pick up win number two. They were back in action again this past Saturday night with the usual Saturday night action at their hometown Brighton Speedway and then a Late Model exhibition event on the pavement at Kawartha Speedway on Sunday afternoon.

The Fowl Mood Racing team has been looking to find some consistency in their cars throughout the season, and Saturday night was another night that the car just wouldn’t perform to their expectations. Potts started fifth in his qualifying heat race, and crossed the finish line in seventh place. In the 25 lap feature, Phil started from the 12th starting position, and ended the night in the same position.

Sunday afternoon was an enjoyable day for the Fowl Mood Racing team. It was all about having fun and taking in a new adventure with the 15 lap exhibition race at Kawartha Speedway. It was the first time ever that the team had raced on a paved racing surface. Out of the nine Late Model cars in attendance at Brighton, Potts drove to a solid fourth place finish.

Fowl Mood Racing Finds Victory Lane for the First Time in 2013 After Thrilling Late Race Pass at Brighton Speedway on Saturday Night

The 2013 racing season has certainly been a struggle for Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team. After finishing second in points at Brighton last season and contending for the championship, Potts has not had the season they had expected, but they were determined to work hard and get Fowl Mood Racing back to victory lane once again.

Potts started the night out with a second place finish in his qualifying heat race after starting from the fifth position. After making some adjustments to the car, the team hit the track for the feature race from the seventh starting position. The hard work that the Fowl Mood Racing team put into the car was paying off, and Potts patiently worked his way forward. By lap 25, Potts was up to second, and got his nose under the race leader on lap 27 to take the top spot with just three laps remaining. Potts picked up his first feature win of the season and first since August 18th of last year.

“This first win has been a long time coming this year”, says Fowl Mood driver Phil Potts. “I really have to thank Stu Archer and this team for working on this car and trying to get back to where we were last year”.

Fowl Mood Racing has Mixed Results During Busy Weekend of Racing

The 2013 racing season has been filled with highs and lows for the Fowl Mood Racing team and drivers Phil Potts in the Late Model division, and driver and team owner Stu Archer in the Canadian Modified class. This past weekend carried a familiar vibe of mixed results throughout the busy schedule. The first event on tap was the highly anticipated World of Outlaw Late Model Series race at Brighton Speedway, followed by Go Nuclear Series races at Mohawk Raceway and Brockville Speedway respectively. The weekend ended with another World of Outlaw Late Model Series race at Cornwall Speedway.

It was a tough night at Brighton for both the Late Model and the Canadian Modified. Phil Potts earned the final starting spot in the A-main, transferring through the last chance qualifier. Rob Wadforth had the reigns of the Canadian Modified, but mechanical issues plagued the team the entire night. Although the 20th place finish wasn’t what they had hoped, just making the show was an accomplishment with a strong field of 34 cars on hand.

A pair of Go Nuclear Late Model Series races were up next with events at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night, and Brockville Speedway on Saturday. Potts finished in 11th place at Mohawk, and ended with a disappointing 18th place result at Brockville Speedway.

Cornwall Speedway hosted the final event of the weekend with the World of Outlaw Late Models highlighting the schedule. Potts started the 50 lap race from the 16th starting position, and ended the night in 18th place.

“It wasn’t a bad run this weekend, we made the show both times with the World of Outlaws and that is a pretty tough deal in itself”, says Potts after the weekend had concluded. “We are still a little off from where we need to be on the setup, but we will continue to work on it until we get it right”.

This coming weekend Phil Potts and Stu Archer will both be back in action at Brighton Speedway for the annual Canada Day Weekend championship..

Fowl Mood Racing Getting Closer to First Win of 2013 With Phil Potts; Stu Archer Learning Quickly in Canadian Modified at Brighton Speedway

After starting the 2013 season at Brighton Speedway with three consecutive fourth place finishes, Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing Late Model team were anxious to get back to the track once again, looking for just a little more. Potts also had a special mid-week event at Can Am Motorsports Park on his scheduler earlier in the week, and Stu Archer returned to competition with his Canadian Modified at Brighton.

The first stop on the schedule last week was Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park for the first round in the Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge North Division. Fowl Mood Racing Gets 7th Place on Opening Night at Can Am; Successful Practice at Brighton Has Team Ready for Hometown Opener This Weekend

After two weekends of rain washing out any on track activity for Fowl Mood Racing, they were finally able to get on track this weekend. Can Am hosted their opening night on Friday night, while their home town Brighton Speedway hosted a practice day on Saturday and Sunday.

Opening night didn’t go as smooth as Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood team had hoped at Can Am. They struggled in their qualifying heat race, and fought their way to a seventh place finish in the 20 lap main event.

The following day, Potts and the Late Model team as well as team owner Stu Archer and his Canadian Modified team hit the track at Brighton Speedway for the first time in 2013. Potts looked strong in the Late Model, while Archer is just getting acclimated with his new ride. Archer also returned to Brighton on Sunday for day two of practice.

This coming weekend, The Fowl Mood Racing Late Model team plans to return to Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday night, and will be at Brighton Speedway on Saturday for their season opener with both the Late Model and the Canadian Modified. They will compete weekly at Brighton with both cars, while Phil Potts plans to follow the Go Nuclear Late Model Series and select events with the World of Outlaw Late Models.

Fowl Mood Racing Set For Exciting 2013 Racing Campaign With Late Model and New Canadian Modified; First Race of the Season Cancelled at Can Am

It has certainly been a busy off-season for Fowl Mood Racing as they have expanded their team to include a Canadian Modified in addition to the Crate Late Model that they have run over the past few seasons. Phil Potts will continue as the Late Model driver, while team owner Stu Archer will get back behind the wheel in the Brighton Speedway Canadian Modified.

The Fowl Mood Racing team had hoped to get on the track last weekend at Can Am for some practice with the Late Model, but rain washed out both days of scheduled practice time. The season opener at Can Am was scheduled for this past weekend, and once again rain forced the track to cancel their program. They will try once again this Friday night, before getting on the track at their hometown Brighton Speedway for a test and tune session on April 27th and 28th where they will have both cars on hand as they make their final preparations before they start the season the following Saturday night.

“It has been a tough start here with the weather not co-operating, but hopefully that will change soon, and we can get the season underway”, says Phil Potts. “We were a little spoiled by the great weather we had last year at this time”.

Potts and the Fowl Mood Crate Late Model team will race weekly at Brighton, as well as select shows at Can Am Motorsports Park. They also plan to follow the entire Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge Series. Archer will race his Canadian Modified weekly at Brighton Speedway.
