Fowl Mood Racing 2012 Season in Review; Four Feature Wins Highlight 2012 Season for Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Team

The 2012 racing season has been the most successful season to date for Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team.  Although they fell just short of their goal of winning the Brighton Speedway Late Model championship, the season did have many bright spots, including four Brighton Speedway feature wins.

After getting an early start to the 2012 season at East Bay Speedway in Florida in early February that ended with a damaged racecar, the Fowl Mood Racing team returned home and had to rebuild.  They switched to a Rocket chassis, and instantly took a liking to it once the season started locally.  They opened the year at Brighton with a pair of top five finishes, and after a DNF, they ended the month of May with a win and backed that up just two weeks later with their second win of the season.  The team celebrated victory on two more occasions in 2012, taking the checkered flag on July 28th and again on August 18th.  The finished the season in second place in the overall track point standings.

In addition to racing weekly at Brighton, Fowl Mood Racing also followed the Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge Series.  They battled hard for a top five finish in the overall standings, but a late race flat tire on the final night at Brockville put them in sixth place.

“We can look back on this season and be really proud of our accomplishments”, says driver Phil Potts.  “We battled for the championship all year, we won some races, and really had a great time.  I can’t wait to get the season started in 2013”.

Potts and the Fowl Mood Team hope to make it back to Florida in February to compete once again with the NeSmith Late Model Series.  They had some struggles last year, but feel that their knowledge that they have gained with the new Rocket Chassis will help them if they decide to return.

Fowl Mood Racing would not be possible without the support of our sponsors.  We would like to thank Hutchinson Fuels, Indewey Excavating, Vanderlaan Building Supplies, Bill’s Johns, Gord’s Water Service and Brighton Recycling Inc. for all their support throughout the 2012 season, and we look forward to another great season in 2013.

Fowl Mood Racing’s Top Five Run at Brockville Spoiled by Flat Tire in Closing Laps of Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge Series Finale

For the final time in 2012, Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team loaded their car up on Friday afternoon, and were on the road to the racetrack.  Brockville Speedway was their destination as they hosted the final race in the Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge Series.  Potts last raced at Brockville in August of 2011 with the now defunct Ontario Dirt Late Model Series with a sixth place result, and was hoping to better that finish on his return.

After a second place finish in his qualifying heat race, Potts was ready for the 50 lap main event.  He entered the night fourth overall in the series point standings and was hoping to improve on that during the final night.  He rolled off the starting grid from outside of row three in the sixth position and was up to fourth before they completed the first 10 laps.  He was soon up to third place and in the middle of a terrific battle for second place with heavy lapped traffic around him.  With just a handful of laps remaining, Potts had a flat tire and would have to make a pit stop.  He returned to the rear of the field and was credited with a disappointing 14th place finish.

“It certainly wasn’t how we wanted to end our season”, says Potts after the race.  “We had a great car, and were running up front until we got that flat tire late in the race.  It is disappointing, but we will move on, and will be back next year stronger then ever”.

The misfortunes late in the race put Potts out of the top five in series points.  He ended the series sixth overall.  He finished out the year with four feature wins to go along with his second place finish in points at Brighton Speedway.

“Overall it was a really good season for us.  We came up a little bit short of our goal of winning the Brighton championship, but we had a successful year with four feature wins, and several really good finishes”, says Potts about his 2012 season.  “We will take some time off and regroup, and be ready for next year”.

Fowl Mood Racing Finishes 2012 Season at Brighton With a Top Ten Finish During Applefest Weekend; Gets Second Overall in Season Championship

2012 was a solid year for Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team.  Although they came up just a little short of achieving their goal of winning the Brighton Speedway track championship, their season still was very productive, with four feature wins, 14 top five finishes and 18 top 10 finishes over their 25 race season.

Like most season’s Applefest Weekend at Brighton Speedway marks the end of the season.  Potts was looking for a solid finish to secure second place overall in the points championship.  He started fifth in his qualifying heat race, and advanced to third.  In the 30 lap feature, Potts started from ninth place and struggled through most the event.  He would cross the finish line in 10th place, just enough to secure second in points.

“This wasn’t how we wanted to end our season here at Brighton”, says Potts.  “We hoped to be up there contending for the win, but we were just a little bit off on our set up tonight”.

Although the season is over at Brighton, the Fowl Mood Racing team sill has one more event on their schedule.  They will travel to Brockville Speedway on Friday, October 12th for the final race of the Go Nuclear Late Model Series.  This race will kick off the 1000 Islands RV DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals Weekend.  Potts is currently fourth in series points entering the final race.

Fowl Mood Racing would not be possible without the support of our sponsors.  We would like to thank Hutchinson Fuels, Indewey Excavating, Vanderlaan Building Supplies, Bill’s Johns, Gord’s Water Service and Brighton Recycling Inc. for all their support, and we look forward to a very exciting 2012 season.

Fowl Mood Racing Gets Top Ten Finishes in Go Nuclear Challenge Series Weekend Events at Mohawk International Raceway

After finishing a disappointing 20th in the Great Crate Race Go Nuclear Series event at Brighton Speedway last weekend, Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team were looking for better results as the Go Nuclear Late Model Series returned to Mohawk International Raceway for a pair of events scheduled for Friday and Saturday night.  Potts finished fourth at Mohawk Raceway back in the Series opener in July, and was hoping to build on that as they returned for race number three and four of the five race Series.

Potts didn’t get a chance to see much on track action on Friday night, as heavy rain began to fall just after the opening practice session.  A decision was made to postpone all of Friday’s events in Saturday afternoon, and then go into the already scheduled Saturday night show.  Saturday was a much better day, and Potts drove to a third place finish in his heat race, making the redraw for a top nine starting spot.  As luck would have it, Potts would draw the ninth starting spot for the first 30 lap feature.  The first race was a struggle for the Fowl Mood team, finishing in ninth place.

After a lengthy break, the Go Nuclear Late Models were back for another round.  After qualifying had been completed, Potts lined up for the 30 lap main event and battled to a sixth place finish.

“We were hoping to finish a little better then what we did, but we will take it and move on”, says Phil Potts after the race.  “The car was working better then it has the past couple weeks, so hopefully we are going in the right direction”.

After four of five events in the Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge Series, Phil Potts currently sits fourth in points.  The final race of the series will take place on Friday, October 12th at Brockville Ontario Speedway as part of their 1000 Islands RV DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals.

The next race on the schedule for the Fowl Mood team is this Saturday night at Brighton Speedway as they conclude their 2012 season with their Applefest Weekend.

Fowl Mood Racing Scores Second Consecutive Top Five Finish at Brighton Speedway; Highly Anticipated Great Crate Race Coming Up This Weekend

It was a small change from the normal routine this weekend for Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team, as Brighton Speedway hosted a weekend doubleheader that would see the Late Models racing on the Sunday as opposed to their traditional Saturday night date.  It was also topless night at the Speedway, with the Late Models removing their roofs for the night, giving fans a unique perspective of their favorite drivers in action.

After struggling to a fourth place finish in his heat race, Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team made some adjustments to the car before the main event.  He started from the 11th position and progressed through the field to finish with a strong fifth place finish.

With the 2012 season winding down, Fowl Mood Racing has some big events lined up before the final checkered flag flies at the end of the season.  The biggest and most anticipated race of the 2012 season takes place on Saturday night at Brighton Speedway as the second annual Great Crate Race takes place.  The $5000 to win event will offer a total purse worth more the $20000 and will bring in many invaders throughout Ontario, New York State and possibly Pennsylvania and Ohio.  This race is also the second round of the Go Nuclear Late Model Series.

“We have been looking forward to this event all season long”, says Fowl Mood Racing driver Phil Potts.  “This is a huge event, and to have it right in our back yard is pretty cool.  If we could win this race it would be pretty special to all of us.  We have had a great season, but that would definitely top it off for sure”.

After the Great Crate Race on Saturday, Potts will begin to prepare for the following weekend with a pair of events at Mohawk International Raceway in Hogansburg, New York as the Go Nuclear Late Model Series continues on September 14th and 15th.  They will be back at Brighton on September 22nd for the annual Applefest race and will have a few weeks off to prepare for the final Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge Series race at Brockville Speedway on Friday, October 12th.

Fowl Mood Racing Scores Fourth Place Finish at Brighton Speedway; Final Points Night Coming up This Saturday Night

It wasn’t the result they were looking for as the Fowl Mood Racing team gave one last effort to trim their point deficit enough to remain in contention for the 2012 championship, but it was valiant effort from driver Phil Potts and the team to battle back from two spins during the 30 lap feature to score their 11th top five finish of the season at Brighton Speedway.

After a third place finish in his qualifying heat race, Potts started the 30 lap feature from deep in the field in 14th place. He rebounded from a lap 20 spin to storm through the field in the final 10 laps to score the fourth place result.

“It wasn’t the way we wanted to end the night. Our goal right from the beginning of the season was to win the 2012 championship and we came up a little short”, says Potts. “We hope to come back here next week and get a win, and get ready for the big races that we have coming up on our schedule”.

The Fowl Mood Racing team has September 8th circled on their calendar, as Brighton Speedway hosts the Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge Series in conjunction with the Great Crate Race $5000 to win event at the track. The following week, the Go Nuclear Late Models return to Mohawk International Raceway for a weekend double header on September 14th and 15th.

“I am really happy that we were able to raise a lot of money for the Canadian National Autism Foundation”, says Phil Potts after his win on Saturday night. “We really appreciate the support from our fellow competitors and the great race fans here at Brighton Speedway”.

Fowl Mood Racing Gets Back on Track With Top Five Finish at Brighton Speedway on Saturday Night

The last few weeks at Brighton Speedway haven’t gone the way Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team had hoped.  Although they did score their third win of the season just a few weeks ago, they have been hampered by some bad luck over the last month that included back to back DNFs, and a nine place finish a week earlier with carburetor issues slowing them down most of the night.

The team returned to Brighton Speedway this past Saturday night despite intermittent raindrops early in the evening that threatened the night’s action.  Phil started sixth in his qualifying heat race, and battled to third place.  In the 30 lap main event, he rolled off the starting grid from fourth place, and fought within the top five the entire race.  He crossed the finish line with a solid fifth place run.

“It has been a tough few weeks for us with some bad luck, so hopefully this will get us back on track and we can build some momentum over the final few weeks of the season”, says Potts.  “We are in a battle here for the championship, and we have a few big races coming up, so we need to run well here every week from here on out”.

This coming week, Potts will be back in action at Brighton Speedway.  It will be fan appreciation night, giving the local race fans a chance to meet their favorite driver during intermission.  Potts will also be sporting some special decals on the car this weekend featuring the Canadian National Autism Foundation (CNAF).  Phil will be donating all winning on Saturday night to the CNAF as well as all t-shirt sales.

Potts is currently second place in points at Brighton Speedway, and 190 points back of the leader with just a few events remaining in the season.  The Fowl Mood Racing team has September 8th circled on their calendar, as Brighton Speedway hosts the Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge Series in conjunction with the Great Crate Race $5000 to win event at the track.

Fowl Mood Racing Returns to Brighton Speedway Victory Lane on Saturday Night After a Couple Tough Weeks

It had been a tough couple weeks for Phil Pott’s and the Fowl Mood Racing team, with disappointing back to back DNFs at Brighton Speedway.  They were hoping to rebound this week at their hometown track, and climb back into contention as the battle for 2012 championship heats up.

The night started out well, with a win in their qualifying heat after starting from the sixth starting position.  The will gave the team optimism that their recent misfortunes would be behind them, and a good night was in store the Fowl Mood Racing team.  Their disappointing finishes from the past two weeks put them on the front row to start the 30 lap main event, and after a hard fought battle, the team crossed the finish line in first place, and scored their third victory of the 2012 season.

“It was a tough couple weeks, but it sure is nice to get back to victory lane”, says Potts after the race.  “I really have to thank Stu and April (Archer), and the entire Fowl Mood Racing team for all their hard work here at the track and in the shop too.  This Rocket chassis has been really good for us this year, and the results have backed that up.  I also want to thank our sponsors and all of our fans that support us each week”.

Potts is currently second place in points at Brighton Speedway and continues to chip away at the deficit.  He is now just 120 points out of the lead in the battle for the coveted championship.  He will be back at Brighton again this Saturday night, and also plans to run Humberstone Speedway in Port Colborne, Ontario on Sunday for their Late Model invitational race.

Fowl Mood Racing Looking to Get Back on Track After a Couple of Disappointing Weekends at Brighton Speedway

Although the 2012 season has been good for Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team, the last two weeks haven’t gone the way the team had hoped.  The team anticipates that their recent streak of bad luck is just a minor blemish on an otherwise solid season for the Brighton, Ontario based team.

During the previous week, a flat tire late in the race sidelined the team from a strong finish, and another flat would take them out of the hunt on lap 13 this week.  They returned to the track on the lead lap, but would get caught up in a wreck that would end their night early.

After a streak of three straight top five finishes before this latest bump in the road, the Fowl Mood Team is looking forward to getting back to the track this coming weekend, and starting a new streak of solid finishes.

“It is frustrating sometimes because we know we have a great car and a great team, but sometimes we just cant control the bad luck that we have been having the last two weeks”, says Phil Potts after the race.  “I do have to thank all of our sponsors, crew, family and friends for their support, and hopefully next week will be much better for all of us”.

Despite the two frustrating weeks, Potts still remains second in track points at Brighton Speedway, just 135 points behind the leader in the battle for Brighton’s Late Model championship.

Fowl Mood Racing Gets Fourth Place Finish in Go Nuclear Series Opener; Continues Successful Season With Second Place at Brighton Speedway

The 2012 season has been good for Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team.  Since debuting their Rocket chassis earlier this season, the team has improved their consistency, have won races, and are very much in contention for the coveted Brighton Speedway Late Model Championship.  In addition to their usual Saturday night trip up the road to Brighton Speedway, the Fowl Mood Racing team also made the 3 and half hour drive to Hogansburg, New York for the first round of the Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge Series at Mohawk International Raceway.

A few weeks ago, the team traveled to Mohawk Raceway, only to witness an incredible hail storm and heavy rain not long after arriving at the track.  The program was postponed until this past Friday night, and the weather was not an issue.  After a fifth place finish in their qualifying heat, the team made some adjustments to the car to get ready for the 30 lap main event.  Potts started the race from the 12th position and quickly moved up through the field.  By lap ten Phil had moved up to third place, and would run solidly inside the top five for the remaining laps with a fourth place finish.

“The car just had way too much forward drive in the heat race, and we came back in and made some adjustments, and the car worked great in the feature”, says Potts.  “This is a great track to race at, and I look forward to coming back here in September”.

After returning back home early on Saturday morning, the Fowl Mood Racing team went to work, doing their routine maintenance getting the car ready for the night’s events at Brighton Speedway.  The night started out with a win in his qualifying heat race, and finished second in the 30 lap feature.

“We had a good run, but it could have been better, and could have been much worse too”, explains Potts.  “We blew a brake line, but we were still able to finish with a solid second place finish.  We are happy with the end result, considering the brake issues”.

This coming weekend, Potts will be back at Brighton Speedway looking to get back to victory lane.  He is currently second in track points, just 75 points out of the lead.

Fowl Mood Racing Sets Fast Time at Brighton Speedway’s Canada Day Championship For Third Consecutive Season; Finishes Race in Third Place

For two years in a row, the Fowl Mood Racing team has dominated the Canada Day championship race at Brighton Speedway.  Coming into the 2012 version of the race, Phil Potts and Fowl Mood Racing have been running well, and they had their sights set on a winning for a third straight year, and capitalizing on the double points night at the track.

Time trials set the tone early in the night, and just like they had hoped, Potts set fast time for the third year in a row.  He also won his qualifying heat, and all the remained in their quest to go three in a row was the 50 lap feature.  Potts drove a great race, exchanging the lead back in fourth through most of the race, and finished with a solid third place finish.  Although the streak is over for the Canada Day race, Potts continued to climb towards the top of the point standings.  He is currently second in track points, only 85 points out of first.

“The car is really working well for us”, says Potts.  “We didn’t get the win that we had hoped, but we still had a great finish, and had a great points night”.

This coming weekend, Potts will return to Mohawk International Raceway for the rescheduled Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge Series race.  After heavy rain, and hail postponed the event from its original date a couple weeks earlier, Potts is looking forward to getting back to the Hogansburg, New York track.

“The track up at Mohawk is awesome, and we are excited about getting back up there on Friday night”, says Potts.  “Hopefully it will be a nice day on Friday, and we wont have to keep an eye on the weather all night”.

Potts will also be in action at Brighton on Saturday, looking to return to victory lane at his home track, and getting even closer to the point lead.

Fowl Mood Racing’s Weekend With the Outlaws Ends With a Crash at Granby, a Mechanical Failure at Brighton and a Rainout at Cornwall

The highly anticipated weekend for Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team has come and gone, as they battled alongside the stars of the World of Outlaw Late Model Series with events planned at Autodrome Granby on Friday night, back home to Brighton Speedway on Saturday night for a 15 lap dash for cash with a pair of World of Outlaw Late Model stars and then back to Cornwall Speedway on Sunday to finish off their swing through Eastern Canada.

Autodrome Granby in almost five hours from the Fowl Mood Racing team shop in Brighton, Ontario, but the team was eager to make the long drive to do battle with the elite Late Model racers from the United States and Canada with the World of Outlaws.  The Series has events throughout the USA, but this was their only swing through the Canadian provinces.  Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team qualified into the 50 lap main event, but they got caught up in a crash late in the race, and suffered heavy damage to the car.

They made the long drive back to Brighton, and with the damage now fixed from the previous night, they were ready for the 15 lap dash for cash featuring Potts and some of the Brighton Speedway locals against World of Outlaw drivers Bub McCool and Chubb Frank on Saturday night.  A broken gear in the rear end sidelined the team early in the race.

“It certainly wasn’t the result we were looking for, but it is an easy fix, and we will be back at Cornwall tomorrow night for their World of Outlaw show”, says Potts.  “We haven’t had much luck so far this weekend, but hopefully that will change”.

The Fowl Mood Racing team traveled back up the 401 to Cornwall Speedway on Sunday afternoon.  The weather had forecasted rain for later in the evening, but by 3:30 in the afternoon the skies opened up, and about an hour later the track officials had no choice but to cancel their WoO Late Model program.

“We had just got to the track and got the car unloaded, and before you knew it the clouds started to roll in, and we were putting everything away”, adds Potts.  “The track tried to wait it out, but the rain just kept coming, and there was nothing they could do but cancel”.

This coming week, Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team will be back at Brighton Speedway for the Canada Day Championship.  If history is an indication, the team should have a strong showing, as they have set fast time, and have won the event two years in a row.  Currently second in points, a win would put them with in striking distance for the coveted Brighton Speedway Late Model championship.

Fowl Mood Racing to Run With the World of Outlaws This Weekend

After a tough night at the track last weekend at Brighton, Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team are looking to move on as they begin to prepare for an exciting weekend of racing with the World of Outlaw Late Models.

The team plans to travel to Autodrome Granby on Friday night in Quebec, before coming back home to Brighton on Saturday for a Dash for Cash event with World of Outlaw drivers Chubb Frank and Rick Eckert, as well as other local race teams that have open motors to race with the Outlaws.  On Sunday, the team travels to Cornwall Motor Speedway for another World of Outlaw race at the picturesque facility in Cornwall, Ontario.

“We are really excited about this weekend, as we get to visit some tracks that we don’t get out to very often, and of course, we will be racing with some of the best Late Model racers throughout the United States and Canada with these World of Outlaw guys”, says driver Phil Potts.  “We have a great car, and a great team, and it will be fun for us to compete against these guys and see where we stack up against them”.

Potts and the Fowl Mood Race team may have very limited experience with the Outlaws, but their new Rocket chassis is dialed in, and the team is looking forward to the challenge that they face this weekend.

“We are racing against teams that do this full time, and run 60 or 70 races a year, with a seemingly unlimited budget”, says Potts.  “Competing at this level can only help our program in the long run, and we are excited about that”.

Fowl Mood Racing Gets Back to Victory Lane After Impressive Performance at Brighton Speedway on Saturday Night

It took them a few races to get their new Rocket Chassis dialed in, but Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team are firing on all cylinders now, posting their second win in three weeks at their home town Brighton Speedway.  The team also made the trip to Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night for the Go Nuclear Late Model Series.

On Friday night, the Fowl Mood Racing team made the three-hour trip to Hogansburg, New York for the first race in the 2012 Go Nuclear Challenge Late Model Series.  As the team was getting ready for the night’s racing action, the skies began to darken, and soon after heavy rain began to fall, and then hail.  The 15 minute storm delayed the events for over two hours, and just as the track was getting packed in, and about 20 minutes away from starting, a second shower saturated the track, forcing track officials to cancel the night’s racing events.

“It is a disappointing that we got rained out after making the long drive here.  I was really looking forward to racing at this place”, says Potts.  “We will be back on July 6th for the rescheduled race, and again later in the year”.

On Brighton Speedway on Saturday, Potts was back home at Brighton Speedway.  After finishing second in his qualifier, Potts was confident that his new Rocket Chassis would be fast for the 30 lap main event.  Potts would start on the outside of row four in eighth place to start the race, and quickly moved forward.  He would go on to take the win, posting his second victory of 2012, and second in just three weeks.  The win moves Potts up to second in track points.

This coming week, Potts will be back in action at Brighton Speedway on Saturday night, looking for another win.  The following week, Potts will have his big motor in the car, as they battle with the World of Outlaws at Autodrome Granby on Friday, June 22nd, and Cornwall Speedway on Sunday, June 24th.  On the Saturday night between the two World of Outlaw dates, the team will return home, and prepare for a dash for cash at Brighton Speedway featuring Late Model stars Chubb Frank and Rick Eckert, as well as Potts, and other Brighton Speedway regulars.

“We are really looking forward to racing with the Outlaws next week”, says Potts.  It will be a lot of fun racing with Chubb Frank here at Brighton as well.  He is one of the biggest names in Late Model racing and it will be great for everyone to have him here at our track”.

Fowl Mood Racing Battles Back From Early Race Spin to Record Second Straight Top Five; Go Nuclear Series to Kick Off This Weekend

Fresh off their first win of the 2012 season just one week ago, Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team were looking forward to getting back to their hometown Brighton Speedway to attempt to win their second straight feature.

After a solid second place finish in their qualifier, Phil and the rest of the Brighton Speedway competitors participated in Brighton’s annual meet the driver night. He signed autographs for local fans, and took time out for photos, and to talk to the fans that came out.

Potts started the 30 lap main event from the 12th position.  He drove the Fowl Mood Racing car through the field early, but spun on lap seven to avoid another car, and would have to restart from the rear of the field.  On the ensuing restart, Potts got up on the wheel, and was soon back inside the top ten.  On the final restart, he took over the fourth position, and held that spot through the end of the race.  The strong finish now moved Potts to third in Brighton Speedway track points.

“We had a fast car tonight, but we really hurt ourselves with that spin early in the race”, says Potts.  “We were able to bounce back from that and score another strong finish.  I really have to thank Stu Archer and the entire Fowl Mood team for their hard work”.

This coming week Potts has a pair of events scheduled beginning with a Friday night trip to Hogansburg, New York for the first round of the Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge Series at Mohawk International Raceway.  Potts has just one previous start at the track, finishing sixth last season.  On Saturday night, the team will return to Brighton Speedway, looking to continue their strong performances of late, and get back to their home track victory lane.

In other exciting news around the Brighton Speedway, It has been confirmed that World of Outlaw Late Model star Chubb Frank will be in action at the Brighton Speedway on Saturday, June 23rd taking on the hometown crowd.  This will be Chubb’s first ever appearance at Brighton Speedway.

“We are very excited to have a star like Chubb Frank come to our track”, says Potts.  “He is a very accomplished racer, and has done a lot for our sport, and I looking forward to racing against him right here at Brighton later this month”.

After a strong second place finish in their qualifier, Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team made some adjustments to their car in preparation for the main event.  Starting from the front row, Potts took the lead early and ran a flawless race, leading every lap and dominating the entire race.  The win was their first in the 2012 racing season.

“I really have to thank Stu Archer and the entire Fowl Mood Racing team for all their help”, says Potts.  “Everyone puts a lot of time in at the shop and here at the track to get this car running better, and tonight it has all come together.  I also want to thank our fans and sponsors for their support throughout the season”.

Fowl Mood Racing Has Disappointing Night at Brighton Speedway

After a pair of top five finishes to start the 2012 season at Brighton Speedway, Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team were looking forward to getting back to the track, trying to get that first win of the year and more importantly continue their consistency and battle for the Brighton Speedway Late Model Championship.

The bad luck began just one lap from the checkered flag in the qualifying race, as a flat tire sent Potts to the pit area.  The team made some adjustments to the car to prepare for the 30 lap main event, but on the very first lap, the driveshaft broke, sending Potts back to the pits.  They did return to the track for the final eight laps with a very fast car, but several laps down.

“We had a good car in the heat race, and then we got the flat tire, and didn’t even get a chance to see how good we could have been in the feature with the driveshaft issue”, says Potts.  “It a pretty disappointing night, but that’s racing”.

This coming week, Potts will be at Can Am Motorsports Park for a special Wednesday night event, and will be back at Brighton Speedway looking to get back on track, and get back to their hometown victory lane.

“It is a tough field out there, with a lot of competitive race teams in this division”, adds Potts.  We are going to keep working hard, and hopefully we can get our share of wins, and battle for the championship as the season progresses”.

A second place finish in their qualifying team had them optimistic going into their 30 lap feature.  The team made some adjustments on the car after qualifying, as they were looking to capture their first win of the 2012 season.  At the end of the race, Potts finished with a solid top five run, placing him third in points after two events.

“We are off to a pretty solid start after the first two weeks of the season”, says Potts.  “Hopefully we can get that first win of the season soon, and stay consistent throughout the season.  If we can do that, we will be in contention for the Late Model championship here come September”.

Fowl Mood Racing Gets Second Place Finish on Opening Night at Brighton

After a trip to Florida in early February, and a short dash across the border for practice and opening night at Can Am the last couple weeks, Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team were anxious to get the season started on their home turf, as Brighton Speedway opened for the 2012 season.

Before the events at the track got underway, the Fowl Mood Racing team joined several other area race teams for a parade along the streets of Brighton to support the local Food Bank.  With the parade over, the attention soon turned to the night’s racing activities.  Potts finished his qualifying heat in second, and was very happy with how the car handled.  With some fine-tuning on the set up of the car, the team was confident that they would have a good finish in the main event.

In the 30 lap main event, Potts started from inside of the second row in the third position.  He ran a solid race, and moved up to second at the checkered flag.

“We had a good run tonight, the car really worked well for us”, says Potts.  “Hopefully next week will be just a little better, and we can get this car to victory lane”.

Fowl Mood Racing Scores Top Five Finish on Opening Night at Can Am

After being rained out last week, Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team were anxious to get back on the track.  Their new Rocket Chassis performed well during the practice session at Can Am two weeks ago, and they were looking forward to seeing how well it would work under racing conditions.

In the six lap qualifying heat, Potts started from the eighth position, and advanced to fourth at the checkered flag.  It was a good run for the team, and when the car arrived back in the pit area, they made some minor adjustments, before the 25 lap main event.  After starting at the back of the feature, Potts advanced to the top five before the checkered flag.

“We had a good run tonight, the car was great”, says Potts after the race.  “With the sprint cars here, the track was really slick, and made it difficult to pass.  Overall it was a good night though”.

On Sunday, the team stayed close to home as their home town track hosted a practice session in preparation for their season opener this coming Saturday night.  The Fowl Mood Racing team will also practice on Wednesday night.

Saturday night will be the first race of the 2012 season at Brighton, and Potts and the Fowl Mood team are looking forward to starting their season on their home turf.

The 2012 racing season will begin early for Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team, as they plan to travel to Tampa, Florida and compete at Easy Bay Raceway Park in the ultra competitive NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model Series.

The team will be looking to conquer the troubles that left them on the outside looking in during last year’s Winter Nationals at East Bay, in which the problems were later determined to be a faulty shock that disrupted the handling of the car.

“We were a little off the mark last year at East Bay, and we are looking forward to getting back there this year and putting up a better performance”, says Fowl Mood driver Phil Potts. “I really have to thank Stu and April Archer for giving me the opportunity, and all the crew that will be making the trip with us this year.
