Fowl Mood Racing has Mixed Results During Busy Weekend of Racing

The 2013 racing season has been filled with highs and lows for the Fowl Mood Racing team and drivers Phil Potts in the Late Model division, and driver and team owner Stu Archer in the Canadian Modified class. This past weekend carried a familiar vibe of mixed results throughout the busy schedule. The first event on tap was the highly anticipated World of Outlaw Late Model Series race at Brighton Speedway, followed by Go Nuclear Series races at Mohawk Raceway and Brockville Speedway respectively. The weekend ended with another World of Outlaw Late Model Series race at Cornwall Speedway.

It was a tough night at Brighton for both the Late Model and the Canadian Modified. Phil Potts earned the final starting spot in the A-main, transferring through the last chance qualifier. Rob Wadforth had the reigns of the Canadian Modified, but mechanical issues plagued the team the entire night. Although the 20th place finish wasn’t what they had hoped, just making the show was an accomplishment with a strong field of 34 cars on hand.

A pair of Go Nuclear Late Model Series races were up next with events at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night, and Brockville Speedway on Saturday. Potts finished in 11th place at Mohawk, and ended with a disappointing 18th place result at Brockville Speedway.

Cornwall Speedway hosted the final event of the weekend with the World of Outlaw Late Models highlighting the schedule. Potts started the 50 lap race from the 16th starting position, and ended the night in 18th place.

“It wasn’t a bad run this weekend, we made the show both times with the World of Outlaws and that is a pretty tough deal in itself”, says Potts after the weekend had concluded. “We are still a little off from where we need to be on the setup, but we will continue to work on it until we get it right”.

This coming weekend Phil Potts and Stu Archer will both be back in action at Brighton Speedway for the annual Canada Day Weekend championship..

“It always fun racing against the Outlaws”, says Potts. “We have raced before at other tracks, but this time is different. We are right here in our own back yard on a track that we race on each week. Hopefully we will have an advantage and be able to post a great finish. I know everyone is really looking forward to Thursday night”.

Fowl Mood Racing Battles Adverse Conditions on Saturday Night at Brighton Speedway Due to Weather; Busy Week of Racing Coming Up

After getting rained out the previous week, and more rain leading up to this past weekend’s events, the Fowl Mood Racing team were expecting heavy track conditions when they arrived at Brighton Speedway. This turned out to be true, as the saturated clay played havoc on race teams throughout the night.

In the qualifying heat races, Phil Potts started from the sixth position and advanced to third before the checkered flag. He lined up from the outside of the fifth row in 10th place to start the 35 lap feature. Over the course of the race, Potts was able to move his Fowl Mood Racing Late Model to sixth place for his fifth consecutive top ten finish to start the season at Brighton.

Stu Archer was also back in action at Brighton Speedway in the Canadian Modified. He finished second in his qualifying heat race, advancing one position from his third place starting spot. In the 25 lap main event, Archer fired from the eighth starting spot, and had a fast car in the opening laps. His night lasted just a few laps after contact from another car put him out of the race.

This coming week, Fowl Mood Racing will return to Brighton Speedway with both the Late Model and Canadian Modified. From there, the team will have a very busy week, with the Go Nuclear Late Model Series at Can Am next Wednesday night, The highly anticipated World of Outlaw Late Model race at Brighton Speedway next Thursday night, back in the Go Nuclear Late Model at Mohawk International Raceway next Friday and Brockville Speedway next Saturday night, and will end the weekend with a World of Outlaw Late Model Series race at Cornwall Speedway on the Sunday.
