Fowl Mood Racing Getting Closer to First Win of 2013 With Phil Potts; Stu Archer Learning Quickly in Canadian Modified at Brighton Speedway

After starting the 2013 season at Brighton Speedway with three consecutive fourth place finishes, Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing Late Model team were anxious to get back to the track once again, looking for just a little more. Potts also had a special mid-week event at Can Am Motorsports Park on his scheduler earlier in the week, and Stu Archer returned to competition with his Canadian Modified at Brighton.

The first stop on the schedule last week was Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park for the first round in the Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge North Division. Potts started and finished fourth in his qualifying heat race, making the redraw for a top eight starting spot in the night’s main event. He went on to draw the third starting position, and lined up on the inside of row two to start the 25 lap Go Nuclear! Feature. After a great battle throughout the event, Potts crossed the finish line in the same position he started, earning a great third place finish to start the series.

“It was a good run for us tonight, and a huge improvement from when we were here earlier this season”, says driver Phil Potts. “We really want to battle for this Go Nuclear! North Division championship, and hopefully we can continue to run well in this series throughout the season”.

It was back home to Brighton Speedway on Saturday night with Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing Late Model and team owner Stu Archer in the Canadian Modified both in action. Potts finished fourth in his qualifying heat race after starting seventh. In the main event, he started from the outside of row four in the eighth position and quickly making his way forward. He was inside the top five by lap three, and continued to make progress throughout the 25 lap race. At the checkered flag, Potts finish with a solid second place run, moving him to second in track points, just 15 points of the lead in the chase for the elusive Brighton Speedway Late Model track championship.

Meanwhile, Archer continues to improve with each week as he gets more comfortable in the Canadian Modified. He struggled in his qualifying heat race, and would have to start the main event from the 19th position. He steadily moved forward throughout the race, and crossed the finish line with his third top ten of the season with a solid ninth place result.

This coming week, Fowl Mood Racing will return to Brighton Speedway with both the Late Model and Canadian Modified. It is fan appreciation night at the track and Phil Potts, Stu Archer and all the Brighton Speedway racer’s will be available to sign autographs at intermission.

Fowl Mood Racing Driver Phil Potts Scores Third Consecutive Top Five Finish at Brighton; Archer Learning Quickly in Canadian Modified Division

After earning a pair of fourth place finishes to start the 2013 season at Brighton Speedway, Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing Late Model team were looking to improve on that this past week. Stu Archer was also back behind the wheel of his Canadian Modified, looking to gain more experience and build on their program with each race.

Phil Potts was looking for another solid finish at Brighton Speedway this past weekend in the Late Model. With a pair of top five finishes to start the year, they were confident that a victory was well within reach. They struggled early though in the qualifying heat race, taking a fifth place finish back to the pit area. After making some adjustments on the car, they were ready for the feature. Potts started the ninth position, and gradually worked his way to the front, and by the time the race ended, he has scored his third consecutive fourth place finish to start the 2013 season. After three events, he is tied for second in the point standings.

“We have been consistent here at Brighton, that’s for sure”, says Potts looking back on his repetitive finishes to start the year. “The car has been good, we just need to a little more and we will be up there challenging for the win”.

In the Fowl Mood Racing Canadian Modified, Stu Archer continues to get comfortable in his role as car owner of the Fowl Mood Racing team as well as the driver of the Canadian Mod. He finished fifth in his qualifying heat race, and started 18th in the feature. At the checkered flag, Archer finished in 10th place, earning his second top ten finish in three events so far this season.

This coming week, Fowl Mood Racing will be in action at Can Am Motorsports Park in Lafargeville, New York on Wednesday night for the first race in the Go Nuclear Excel Tower North Division. On Saturday night, both the Fowl Mood Racing Late Model and Canadian Modified will return to Brighton Speedway.

Fowl Mood Racing Gets Off to Strong Start at Brighton With 4th Place Finish for Phil Potts in the Late Model; Archer Gets Top 10 in Maiden Voyage With Canadian Modified

After a weekend of practice, both Fowl Mood Racing cars were ready for action on opening night at Brighton Speedway this past weekend. Phil Potts with the Late Model had already had a race under his belt at Can Am a week earlier was looking forward to the first run of the season at his home town track. Archer on the other hand was making his debut in the Canadian Modified division.

The day started off with the annual Champions parade through the streets of downtown Brighton, from there the team headed to the race track, ready for opening night battle. Potts started out strong, finishing first in his qualifying heat race, and ended the night with a fourth place finish in the feature. Archer had a strong debut as well. He placed third in his qualifying heat race, and would come out of the night’s main event with a solid top 10 performance.

“It was a good run for both cars to start the season”, says team owner and Canadian Modified driver Stu Archer. “Phil did a great job, getting a top five finish, and the Canadian Modified was good too. The car (Canadian Modified) is definitely better than the driver at this point, but we are getting there”.

This coming weekend, Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Late Model and Stu Archer and the Canadian Modified will return to Brighton Speedway for round two of the 2013 racing season. They will compete weekly at Brighton with both cars, while Phil Potts plans to follow the Go Nuclear Late Model Series and select events with the World of Outlaw Late Models.
